Friday Night at Winger's and the Park

On the spur of the moment, J and A and their sons J and Baby Z, along with S and J (who were on their way to a weekend in Zion's) and M and her baby, S, met T and I at Winger's for dinner.  J.E. (we have so many J names in the family, that I'm going to use initials sometimes to make it easier to understand) immediately asked for Baby S, who was wide awake and looking darling.  J.E. is a natural!  One day he will be cuddling his own little one, I know it!

Big Brother, J, holding snoozing Baby Z

M had to leave for a viewing and S and J needed to get on the road, but the rest of us headed over to the nearby park and pond to enjoy the cool summer evening.  It was delightful!  Baby Z never opened his eyes the whole evening - poor A, I'll bet tonight is going to be looooong!  However, Z's big brother J (see, another J name!) made up for Z's lack of energy!  When J wasn't feeding the ducks, throwing rocks/wood into the water, our best view of him was his dusty backside as he ran, ran, ran.  His feet are hardly ever on the ground together at the same time!

Is there a boy in the entire world who can resist throwing a rock into a body of water??

Not a very good picture, because I was hustling along, trying to keep up, but you get the idea about how intent J was to keep those feet moving.  I can't decide if he's going to be a quarterback or a running back.  Maybe a sprinter or a pitcher.

The Nana and sleepy Baby Z

There were plenty of ducks and a few geese gorging themselves on lots of bread and crackers their human visitors brought for them.  T liked feeding them right out of his hand.  The big white one on the left he said was very "friendly."  "Just put the bread on your palm and he'll eat it."  Ha!

Amber was as hesitant as I was.  J was just as apprehensive.

But, thanks to a quick camera, I caught the moment right after the big goose snatched the food out of his hand.  J wasn't anxious to do it again!

On our walk, T discovered what he called "yellow plums" hanging on a tree, and being the brave (stupid?) soul he is, plopped one in his mouth and pronounced it good.  I'm wondering if maybe the reason for the terrible sickness he had after the China trip a couple of weeks ago might have something to do with this lack of fear...

Life father, like son, like grandson.  We'll see who wakes up tomorrow morning without a stomach ache!
