January Blahs

I guess it is sort of Karma.  Wonderful, full of activities, lit up, colorful Christmas season is followed by boring, dark, and dreary January!  They say that January 24th is the saddest day of the year and I think maybe I've been persuaded.  The yard is brown and white.  The sky is gray.  It's cold.  It's hard to be perky.

Then I get an e-mail with pictures of Elder B from the people that shared their Christmas Day with him in Washikngton.  Not only does it light up the computer screen, it lights up my heart.  But it doesn't last.

Then I get an e-mail from Elder B with a touching story and a testimony from my boy about the power of prayer.  It lights up my heart!  That is more lasting.

And I've decided to start praying a little more.  Praying that I won't become brown and white, dreary and cold.  I'm hoping my faith will work, just like my son's.  There's nothing wrong with praying for yourself.  I don't do it enough. Sometimes it seems selfish.  Well, I'll try being a little more selfish when it comes to praying.

Thank-you, my son, for teaching this old woman - again.
