I’m doing okay this week after the whole upset with the house going in behind us and realized that I've gotten behind in putting some of the fun family activity pictures on this blog. But before that, take a look at the latest project that we have planned.
We decided to ask the excavator on that property if he would be willing to do a little excavation on our land so that we can put a little patch of grass on the east side of the house. I want to have more grass outside and it’s not really possible for us to do that in the walk out part of the backyard yet, but we could on the side. So, it looks like we’ll get a little bit more back/side yard this spring because the excavator will do it for us real cheap. Hubby will build some stairs off the deck so we have a way to get down there from the main floor out back. I am hoping that we will be able to put some sort of fence up now that the house is going in. We won’t have much privacy once the house starts going up. If we can at least get a fence across the back, then I want to run some wire fence along the east side and enclose the yard a little for S Dog. I think she will really like having her own yard that she can mark all over and protect!
This is looking east from underneath the deck. Hubby wanted the backhoe to take out some dirt even with the house. We’ll put either a brick or rock retaining wall where that dirt wall is. The part right here is very low and I plan to make it a sandbox.

Another view of that scooped out spot. We plan to put grass in between this scooped out spot and the trees on the property line and then all the way to the front landscaping. We won’t put in a sprinkler system back here yet, because we don’t want to spend lots of money. I’ll just use the hose and a sprinkler on that. There will be enough room to sit out there in the summer and with the stairs going down, I’ll be happy!
It’s pretty shocking how small our backyard looks now! I just keep reminding myself to look at those plans we had drawn up. Those haven’t changed.
Grandson D's birthday was February 17th. He got a 22 from his parents! He was pretty excited and will be taking hunter safety classes soon.
Yours truly Nana kidnapped him from school for lunch at Subway. He was really excited and talked non-stop the whole lunchtime!
That same night was the temple night. This is once a month when one family babysits all the other grandkids so their parents can go to the temple. I’m so proud of myself. I’ve gone everytime they’ve done this, leaving someone else in charge at our house with all the grandkidlets! It was the same Thursday of D’s birthday so they celebrated with….
Of course S and Z LOVE me SOOO much! S talks all the time. Z doesn’t, but he RUNS! Something about that seems sorta backward to me. Seems like maybe S should be the runner! Her mama M has been running a lot. The other day she said she went 11 miles with some friends in her ward! That’s crazy!
All you have to say to any of the 3 Musketeers is the word “bath” and they start giggling and running to the big tub! S had fun doing something new this time – drinking out of the spray faucet.
Last weekend Hubby and I went to Chili’s for dinner. I took my camera with me.
Hubby watching the BYU vs. SDSU basketball game. He had been working in the bathroom putting up some sheetrock. Yesterday they finally put in the granite countertop.
We’re trying some faux painting techniques in the spot where the mirror will go. I’m not satisfied with it yet. The granite is dark with gold flecks in it. That white thing in the middle is called a vessel sink. It sits on top of the counter.
Grandson J was more interested in sharpening the St. Patrick’s Day pencils I put in the latest box I sent to Elder B in Washington. He did a great job!
The last few weeks have been a bit crazy with sickness. On President’s Day – the day of the house being started in back and all the accompanying trauma – "I" was over with us all sick while her family went on their planned ski trip to Brighton. Then 6 days later the kids were over on Sunday because their parents were sick.
Wii’s are great babysitters!
Daughter M comes over a lot when S is working. He is still found a job managing some running stores and he's great at it, but he would really like something other than retail. Anyone who reads this blog - S is the hardest worker and most loyal guy I know. He's smart and in incredibly good shape. He'd be the perfect employee in the fitness or sales industry. Anyway, that night grandson D brought over his Build a Bear that was wearing aviator glasses.
They fit S perfectly!

I had forgotten about some light-up balls I had bought for the kids to give them for Valentine’s Day, so I gave them this night.
Here’s S and M working on a note for Elder B. M is a very good mom.

Grandaughter A's birthday is Feb. 29th, but since there is no Feb. 29th this year, we celebrated on the 28th. Her mom made a Barbie (of course!) cake. I made fun of her big butt.
I told A that she needed to make it look MORE like a butt. I cracked up (get it, “crack”ed up!) when she cut the cake right where I thought the butt crack should be!!! (Can I say that on a family friendly blog?)
What follows now are some pictures of what happened once the cake was cut. Granddaughter A became her crazy, psycho self and I was in quite a mood about the Barbie with the big butt…
A decided to put her whole face in her cake…
A and I were having a very fun time! I guess I can’t complain when the grandkidlets act a little nuts. Their Nana was licking a Barbie’s butt…
A took it to the next level and licked Barbie’s boobs! (Sorry, this is probably very inappropriate, but if you know A, you're probably laughing your head off right now!)
If we forced them to get in here they would have screamed but since it was their idea, it was fine!
Last Monday it was J and Z's turn for Family Home Evening with Nana and Grandpa. Their mommy, A (the Cougar fan) is getting very big and tired and J, the original Cougar, had school on Monday night so I told A to bring the boys over earlier than normal (5:00) and then she went to get a pedicure using the gift certificate we gave her for Christmas. I also gave her a Chili’s gift card I had won and forgot I had in my purse. She had a nice, relaxing night.
We took the boys to McDonald’s in Cedar Hills, then over for A’s birthday. Then we came home, gave the boys a bath in the big tub, got them ready for bed and lights out. Z still likes his bedtime bottle and slept in my closet. J crashed watching cartoons in my bed.
Saturday was his birthday and I'll post about that soon.
