We decided that instead of a whole bunch of fireworks, we would have a whole bunch of family fun instead. So I put together a scavenger hunt, split the family into a Red, White and Blue team and sent them off.
They had to take pictures of some things. In this one, they did the human wheelbarrow.
In this one, they had to be airborne on the trampoline. They sure did great!
In this one, they had to do something creative by this stop sign.
Each team got glo sticks (for some reason you can't see them in this picture) and they had to create a dance. It didn't hurt that A's hubby, J, is an excellent choreographer who came outside to help. Grandkidlet, N, was sick and stayed inside most of the night with his dad.
This is the blue team doing their dance.
Team Blue also had a solo act - D, who did a great job of breakdancing.
Team Red did some sort of rap, using the garbage can as a drum.
Two of the sons-in-law made a quick trip to the fireworks stand and got a few. The grandkidlets (except for D, who is old enough to help light) lined up on the curb to watch.

"A" not only created an outfit with her glo sticks, but she put them all together and made a jump rope!
We had a lot of fun and no fire started in the dry field next to our house. As I write this, rain is coming down. What a blessing.
