Aaah, the joys of the first week of school. But - you're probably wondering why I state this when our youngest already graduated.
Well, it just seems that no matter if you have a kid in school or not, this week tends to be crazy every year.
T got back from the business trip to China (where he ate things like fish with their heads on, pigs with their heads on, and turtles served in their shells yuck yuck yuck:( on Saturday and what seemed at first like a bad case of jet lag (China is 12 hours ahead), turned into something much worse.
Fevers, uncontrollable shaking, sweating, stomach upset, nausea, other symptoms too graphic to describe and 104 degree fever sent him to the hospital not just yesterday but today as well. This all happened on days when I had to teach three breakout sessions to 100 teachers, speak in a faculty meeting and generally prepare for school starting on Thursday. After IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine, his fever went down and he came home yesterday. I left this morning with the instructions to call me and I would come home if he needed me. Sure enough, the chills and trembling became unbearable around noon and off we went to the ER again. Chest x-rays, nasal mucous specimen to determine if it was Swine Flu or Influenza A, urine, blood and other tests turned up nothing definitive. After IV fluids again, several hours waiting and the temp going down from 104 to normal, we came home with broad spectrum anti-biotic, anti nausea med and pain meds.
He seems to be doing a bit better which is good, but the night is always a kicker.
I am SOOOO tired, but can't nod off. I think I'm anxious about what the night will bring!
At least you didn't get sick (cross your fingers), seems like everyone is coming down or getting over something
ReplyDeleteHey Lori and Terry,
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to find your blog. Sad to hear Terry was so sick, hope he's well by now and back to his self. My Sister in Law came home from China last year with intestinal problems. All that unique cuisine. Glad to hear your family is blossoming and doing so well. Love and miss you all, Your cousin Dana xoxo
