Ouwieeee

If you don't understand that title, imagine a little kid who just got hurt and yells "ouieeee!"  That is the title of this blog because it's how I've been feeling since last Thursday when I underwent rotary cuff surgery on my "good" shoulder, the right.  I'll post some pictures of family activities including K's Baby Shower, Baby Z's blessing, my surgery and other stuff soon (when the fuzzy pain killer drugs allow me to think a little clearer).    But as a simple explanation of the surgery, a few years ago we had a roll-over car accident in the Middle-of-Nowhere-Nevada (actually between Battle Mountain and Winnemucca on I-80) and I suffered a separation of my left shoulder.  That resulted in arthroscopic surgery and subsequent procedure to break apart scar tissue in the joint which limited motion.  As is well with that shoulder, but in May I was working in the yard and being Super Nana-Mom-Gardener-Worker, lifted a big garbage can full of wet grass clippings into our big Dodge truck and Ouwieeee! pain in the right shoulder.  After going all summer without being able to throw a dog toy or ball or do any kind of freestyle swim movement, the doc scheduled an MRI and x-rays.  The diagnosis - rotator cuff tear.  The surgery was optional, the tear wasn't huge, but the tissue was not going to heal itself and over time would gradually become more painful and tear more.  So I chose a week when there were no home football game, no babies being born and the normal hustle and bustle of first school weeks was done.  Unfortunately Terry had to be in Germany on business again, but daughter M and son J and their families were awesome on surgery day, getting me to and from and situated at home.  The weekend is something of a foggy blur, but I do remember this recovery was more painful than the last.  However, I'm doing fine now and looking forward to getting full motion and strength back.  Thanks to all the fam and friends for their support and encouragement!  Pictures will be posted soon:)
