Fire for my Eyes

The other day I opened my eyes and realized how grateful I was for my sight.  Yes, I have to wear contacts or reading glasses to see up close now and I'm sure I'll have to keep increasing the magnification.  I wish I could have my 20 year old eyes back, but my distance vision is still pretty good.  Simple things that I take for granted everyday seemed to jump out at me on Saturday.  I tossed (well, gently placed) my camera in the truck when I left to do some errands and found myself walking around a park near our house.  I'm glad I took the time to appreciate what I was taking for granted.

I took the shot below because I love the idea of new paths.  Although this path is well used and worn, it symbolizes how it's hard to know what is around the next bend.  Even if we think we've traveled the same path and know it well, new things are always around the corner if we just try to see them.

I don't know if any of these leaves might have given me an itchy rash, so I stayed far enough away to snap the shot.

Yes, I thank God for my gift of sight.
