Weekend Wackiness

Son, J, the Cougar, and his wife, A, needed some time away Friday, so Nana got to do kidlet duty overnight.  What an easy Baby Z is!  Look at his cute face!  All that's needed is a nice warm blanket, some warm milk and a little attention and he is just perfect.

He's mastering the art of holding the rattle as you can see by the concentrated look on his face.

No night at Nana's would be complete without a big bowl of popcorn!  Here Uncle B (who unexpectedly was HOME ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!!) was "helping" out.  Grandson J found a comfortable place right on Uncle B's tummy.

I was surprised when I woke up to snow!  I wondered if a two and a half year old could remember snow from the year before.  I found J awake in the playroom and told him there was snow outside!  He looked a bit perplexed.  When I told him I wanted to go outside in it and would he come with me, he was a little nervous.  I told him I wanted to make a snow BALL and throw it!  Even the use of his favorite word, BALL, didn't seem to trigger a positive response.  I told him I wanted to eat some and did he want some too?  He said, "Nana eat it."  By the time he was all dressed warm, he was at least willing to go outside.  Here he is on the front porch with his bowl ready, but notice he hasn't gone down the steps yet!

It took all of about 45 seconds and he was eating snow and wanting more!

Then we went out back with Shadow who couldn't wait for a snowball to crush!  I wish I could have thrown a snowball and taken a picture at the same time.  She was loving it.

Then it was back in the house for breakfast.  I guess it's either cereal or pancakes every day for J, so we whipped up some pancakes.

I'm not sure if he'd ever seen Mickey Mouse pancakes before or not, but he loved watching the bubbles form and telling me it was time to turn em over, Nana!

Later that day, J found a really small bat.  I mean REALLY small.  The diameter of the end that should hit the ball is about 1.5".  As soon as he found the bat he wanted the BALL!  No baseballs in the playroom.  However, there was a punching ball and that worked just fine.  I'm pretty proud of my photography skills.  Notice how the ball nearly hits me in the second photo...

That's the ball in the upper left corner.  I think it must have been going pretty fast.  What do you think, the next A-Rod?  (I hope he remembers his Nana Coach when he brings in the big paychecks!)

Of course, all that activity requires rest for a growing boy.  Even the flash and almost falling off the bed didn't wake the little guy...
