A Servant of the Lord

Last night, youngest son, B, opened his call from the President of our Church, Thomas S. Monson, asking him to serve a 24 month mission to Kennewick, Washington.  He is to report on October 27,2010.  What a great blessing and I am so happy for my son.

Early that day we got a call from the post office telling us we could come down and get the letter, but B was so patient.  He waited all day and then even longer as friends and family took a while to arrive.
Everyone was getting very impatient, but Ben was determined to wait!
He used the envelope to block view of all but the line he was reading to maintain the surprise.
Hubby, his mom and brother were on a business/family history trip to New York and New Jersey so through the magic of Skype they were able to witness this momentous event and we were able to talk to them through the computer.
The moment!  You can tell how excited yours truly is.  I really don't care where my children serve the Lord.  I know they go to the spot the Lord knows they can contribute the best and that He will bless and protect them.  I KNOW this!
When B got to the end of the letter, the part where it is signed by our beloved Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. . .
the dam burst.
Brother-in-law J, the BBQ'r, had never witnessed someone else opening their call.  He was justifiably moved.
There is no doubting these smiles!
 Or this one
 Or this one
 Or this one!
B's bishop, came over along with all the family members in town.  Brother-in-law J, the 2nd Ute (sitting on the hearth) lived in Kennewick!  He told B all about the area and I'm sure they'll have many more conversations.
The fam and girlfriend B's family came to support.
More of the fam and friends
Future missionary, grandson D.  It'll be you someday!
One year old Z has no idea where Kennewick is!
S with her pixie pig tails!

The friends including two buds that are leaving for missions in Ohio and South Africa already looking like missionaries!

Thanks to sister M for taking these awesome pictures!  (You can tell she had the camera because none of the pictures are of her!)
