Red Eye

You've heard of those all-night flights that get you across country for relatively cheap but you get very little sleep?  They're called Red Eye flights?  Well, I got mine for a whole lot cheaper than the cost of those...

Pretty ugly, huh?  People pay good money to look like this on Halloween!  And I didn't even need any under eye purple eye shadow for those circles, either!  The wrinkles are also real but before you think I look this bad all the time, the lighting in this picture was actually horrible AND I had rubbed all my make-up off AND I didn't get a lot of sleep the night before.  If not for all those problems, I've actually been told I look a lot like a 23 year old Suzanne Somers...
.
What caused this?  Punctal plugs.  The eye doctor puts them in the little tiny duct on the bottom lid right close to the corner of your eye to help with dry eye issues.  They keep all the liquid from draining out.  You know yours are working fine if when you cry your nose runs!  Anyway, there is a little lip on the top of the silicone plug that is supposed to be there but not to irritate.  Because of the way my lower lid is curved, those little lips were constantly rubbing on my eyeball.  I had them put in on Tuesday at 4 PM and had them taken out at 3 PM on Wednesday.  These pictures were taken 8 hours AFTER I had the doctor take them out so you can imagine how they looked earlier.

The plan is to let my eyes recover for a couple of weeks and then put in collagen plugs that last 6 - 8 months before dissolving but don't have that irritating little lip on them.  Now if there was just an easy cure for wrinkles...
