Wrapping up the Summer

I enjoyed spending time with my mom this summer.  She is so cute and so capable and independent!  I worry so much about the load she carries, but she handles things so well.
We finished up my time at Tahoe by planting some of the flowers that daughter M bought but didn't have time to put in.  So, M, this picture's for you!

Here's my mom, otherwise known as Grammy, on her front deck.  She looks great for someone 76 years old...and she doesn't, DOES NOT dye her hair!
When I left her at the airport, we were really sad, but look what a darling smile she put on for me!
I've learned a lot of great things from my mom.  She perseveres, does a terrific job, is smart and caring.  She has taught me so much about helping others by the amazing support she was of my dad throughout their marriage but particularly in the last years of his life.  I've learned about dedication and unselfish love from her.  Thanks, Mom.  You're super woman!

Mom brought back some special things when she cleaned out her mom (my Nana)'s house.  I didn't have room in my suitcase, so I had them shipped.  One day A's kids were over and I opened the most special box of all!
This is the frog that decorated my nana's front flower bed since I was a little girl.  That means it's probably close to 50 years old!  Whenever I would visit, that frog was always out front.  As Nana got older, I mentioned that I'd love to have him sit in my front yard someday.  I found out that Nana designated that frog as mine and so froggie found his way to my house several states away.
He's so ugly he's cute and I think he looks fantastic next to the pansies.  Whenever I walk by, I think of my nana.  Perhaps this frog will someday make his way to one of my grandchildren's yards and they will think of me when they walk by...
This last Sunday we had the kids and grandkidlets over for dinner.  I had been gone for both son J (the original Cougar) and his son, Z's birthdays.  Big Boy Z LOVES to sit on our four wheelers, so guess what he got for his birthday?

It has sound effects and he rode it all afternoon.
Hubby got his way on J's present.  J was happy with his new saw.  I don't know what kind.  It cuts wood.
This was the first time that we've been able to have a meal outdoors at this house.  The new sod has rooted well and Hubby and I completed the temporary wire fence enclosing the entire backyard.  Shadow dog can now stay outside in our yard and we don't have to worry about her running away.

The grandkidlets love going up and down the stairs to the...
Trampoline!  Here are the "triplets" and N working out their energy.  It was a delightful evening with the fam but too short of a summer!
