This year we were very lucky. Everyone came over. M, S and S came over later in the meal after spending time with his family.
Here's the entire clan minus M, S, S and Elder Anderson (in Washington State serving the Lord. We had a delicious Thanksgiving feast with everyone contributing something.
Granddaughter A with a desert concoction!
The weather was in the 60's and lovely! No wind, hardly a cloud and sun to spare. We were able to get the whole group into one picture.
Granddaughter S testing out the mini-apple pie made just for her.
When everything was cleaned up the next day, Hubby and I brought all the boxes up from the basement and started decorating.
I found a great deal on a 12' Christmas tree and Hubby set it up and decorated it all by his lonesome. What a trooper! I decorated the rest of the house.
This is the ugliest cake I have ever baked! It's a banana nut cake with a citrusy frosting that Hubby has enjoyed every year since we've been married and for several years before that when his mom made it for him. I don't know what happened, but I could NOT find the recipe that Sunday morning. I came home from church after getting the recipe from his mom and baked the cake. Hubby took it out of the oven for me, but it got a bit overcooked. Then I made the frosting, but when I tasted it, it was nasty. Really bad. I don't know if it was the powdered sugar or butter, but I had to scrape it off and start over, borrowing butter and sugar. I ran out of the borrowed powdered sugar making the second batch of frosting and it was too runny. I finally said, "The heck with it!" I didn't care if it looked bad, let's just eat it! So we stuck candles in it, sang Happy Birthday, and cut the ugly thing up!
I guess it tasted okay. Z and S licked the candles!
Two cute cousins - J and M. All our grandkidlets have the most beautiful blue eyes!
The results of Hubby's hard work. I think it looks beautiful and it's even better at night when it's dark and the tree sheds a bright glow throughout the family room.
The village - also looks better at night.
The Teddy Bear Christmas Land in the entry.
The living room. The whole house looks good at Christmas time!
The Whole Nuclear FanDamily
(I think I did a good job of photo-shopping the ugly background out, don't you?)
