As I have done for many years when it is time for the boys basketball tournament at the high school where I work, I am deeply involved in all the preparations. I order buses for all the groups going up to the game, help with the sales in advance, and then ride as chaperone. Last week, since Lone Peak's team kept winning, I rode a spirit bus full of screaming, excited kids, four times including the last day when the team took the 5A State Championship for the second time in two years! It was great fun the whole week, but you realize how exhausted you are when it's over.
The games were held at the Maverik Center, a much closer venue than in years past, and we had a great crowd. Shots from the 3 point line kept falling in for the amazing Knights.
I gave my camera to a friend and she took some good pictures while I was using my phone to get some video. She caught me!
This is TJ Haws, who is only a sophomore and was named tournament MVP
My friends and I loved what this shirt said - "You may not be afraid of the dark... But you will Fear the Knights"
The team at the celebration back at the school. Some of them are holding sparking cider bottles which they had sprayed all over outside like the pros do with champagne.
Coach Lewis is a first rate coach. He's won 5 championships in his 9 years at the school.
