Hubby has just left with a guy named Julio to work. It is 9:20 here, so most of you are asleep still!
I will be going out to the beach for a few hours soon. We've had breakfast in the hotel and it was good.
Rio Othon Hotel is the one that sticks out - just behind those pointy roofs and the cars.
Last night we ate at an open air place across from our hotel (Rio Othon) which was one step away from the sand of Copa Cabana beach. It's a beautiful bay and miles long of white, smooth sand.
I had calamari for the first time (rubbery and bland), some other sort of fish like tuna and the most awful boiled shrimp I've ever had! It cost too much for what it was worth, but it was a pretty evening.
It's weird. I keep forgetting we're in the southern hemisphere and it's winter here. The sun started going behind the buildings to the west (this beach is on the Atlantic of course) so it was dark by 6. We had taken a nap when we got here, but were happy to go back to the hotel room and fell asleep by 8 PM here, or 5 your time and slept all night! I swear I will never take another red-eye flight (except to get me home) in my life! I just cannot sleep on a plane.
The plan is for Hubby to work with these guys till about 4 PM here, then pick me up and go to dinner in a nice place. Tomorrow we will get to sight-see and plan to take a tour of the Christus and Sugarloaf mountain (google it) and perhaps some of the city.
There is a huge conference with people from all over the world here and
supposedly it's very crowded. I met a man from Botswana in the elevator
this morning.
Okay, enough for now, heading out to the beach.
Chao!
