Our goal was Silver Lake, which is in the center of the map.
At about 7 AM at the start of the hike, it was very chilly, but the trail was relatively dry.
Partway up, the weekend's snowfall became apparent. J and J crossing a small stream.
A and J. A is a quick hiker, but even at 5 years old, J was able to keep up.
Me. I asked Hubby to take one picture so that you would know I actually was there. I was looking over a lovely view.
This is a large, rushing, cold stream that we had to find a way across made a bit dangerous by the snow and ice. We eventually crossed further downstream because these rocks and logs were icy and slick.
While trying to determine where to cross, I slipped on some ice and my mouth crashed into the ice on the ground. You can't tell in this picture, but that cut in the middle of my lower lip goes inside about 3/4". It bled ferociously because I kept putting ice on it to prevent some swelling. The kids got a kick out of the bloody snowballs I would throw down on the path. Then Hubby mentioned that there were cougars in those mountains and I decided to stop making bloody snowballs!
It was fun to have two grandsons up there in that beautiful place!
Hubby was really happy that we both made it up there.
J, A and J. Cute family!
The view!
D and J.
D & J's muddy shoes - but it was worth it!
