Summer Work and Fun

FUN:
When I was a little girl there was no cable television, no computers, no ipads, or cell phones.  Social media was not Facebook or text messaging but the lonely hearts ads in the newspaper.  In the summertime we looked forward to riding our bikes, staying up till after dark, and basically spending the whole day outside.
So when three of the grandkidlets stayed overnight last week to try out our new trampoline while their parents were at the opening of the latest Harry Potter movie, I was thrilled when they chose to play outside.
N and I found the trunk of one of the trees we cut down and played king of the hill.  I would have loved climbing all over this when I was a kid.  I probably would have tried to make some kind of fort out of it!
I can do a front handspring on the tramp!
Grandson J is now playing t-ball and his brother Z likes to go to his games.  Cousin I wanted to come and play with Z because they are good buds
I love this picture of I who is growing into such a beautiful little girl!  And she is an AWESOME little babysitter!

J got a medal for his t-ball play.  He loved playing t-ball!
WORK:
Ever since we moved into our house last summer, we have wished that we had the money to finish the yard.  One of the last steps for this year's efforts was to lay sod in the side yard.  And I have to admit that all those years raising a grundle of my small children, and the fact that they have grown into such helpful and kind adults, certainly paid off when we asked for help laying over 90 4 x 2' pieces of sod.
Note the various ages and species of those "helping."
We really needed the male muscle.
 Yours truly finishing the edges.

MORE SUMMER FUN:
I don't know why it took me so long to discover a park nearby that has a sandy beach and place for kids to wade.  Since Z was staying with us while his parents and smaller and bigger brothers went to Lake Powell.  We went over there one evening and then the next day I invited the mommies of the other two of the "triplets" and daughter A's kids to meet up and have some hot fun in the summertime!
S and Z cooling off.  I love their sweet, happy faces!
Shadow loves to chase sticks so we threw them in for her.  I really think she would do it until she drowned if we didn't stop her!
 Cute little sand face boy!
When daughter M played ring around the rosies with M and S, only S thought it would be a good idea to "all fall down."
I did it when I was a kid.  A and N and every other kid who has ever played on a sandy beach has to try it.  Try what?  Make a lovely sand castle and fill the moat, and fill the moat.  And keep filling the moat.  How did those old medieval folks ever keep their moats filled when we can't seem to do it????
Party time for 2 year old S.  Surprise!
What fun cupcakes and what a cute little 2 year old princess being "worshipped" by her subjects!
S got some fun presents including plastic food in a basket.
Plastic strawberry ice cream tastes better than plastic vanilla ice cream.  Yes it DOES!
Two years old and already owns a vehicle....
Two of the other "triplets."  These two sort of discovered that they liked playing with each other this day.  It was darling watching them try to get to the bottom in a hurry.
Hubby is always Mr. Popular when he gets his trike out!
