On New Year's Eve we went to Tepanyaki for the 2nd year in a row. It's not quite like going to a Chinese Restaurant ala "A Christmas Story", but close. No one sings Fa-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra, but it's festive, nonetheless!
K caught the shrimp! Note how her son is paying very close attention!
Now note how M is cracking up that his mom caught food thrown at her by the chef! That's BAD, Mom!
A (in the yellow shirt) didn't get hers, but she tried very hard
Judging from the picture, A's mama got hers - YUM!
M, S, D and S loved the show that the chef put on. But S was a bit apprehensive at the....
FIRE!
Most of the kids acted unphased, but the heat is very strong and it's not hard to imagine that inside the children were a little freaked out!

S had some specially designed chopsticks that stayed attached on the end. She did pretty well and I was almost jealous.
After the yummy meal
After dinner we all went home with intentions of being great partiers and staying up to ring in 2012. I don't think a one of us made it!
New Year's Day is a traditional day for us. We usually do the same things each year, except for when it's a Sunday. This year we did the normal things, just later in the day. Grandsons J and Z came over with their dad to make Nuisch Kokas.
First, J found Elder Bear that is wearing Uncle B's missionary nametag. He thought it was very cool that the bear was carrying some scriptures.
Z wasted no time getting a taste of his own Nuisch Koka!
J liked rolling them in sugar (and licking his fingers!)
Z, Me, M and J all enjoying the tradition.
You can see the batter and the pan with hot oil and the nuisch kokas cooking.
It's kind of dangerous with that hot oil, so J was very careful to help J so he didn't get burned this year.
S is an old pro.
A also liked the sugar on her fingertips!
